A Domboshava man was sentenced to 100 hours of community service for allegedly assaulting his wife over cheating allegations.
Darlington Ndambane pleaded not guilty to physical abuse charges when he appeared before Mbare Magistrate Stanford Mambanje.
The State represented by Tafara Chirambira alleged that On December 31 last year the defendant Eleanor Nyamutsa left her matrimonial home in Domboshava due to Ndambane’s abusive behavior and moved in with her sister in Mhondoro.
When Ndambane returned home after New Year celebrations, he discovered that Nyamutsa had left him.
Ndambane followed her and upon arrival he started shouting and insulting Nyamutsa calling her a prostitute and a witch.
He then dragged Nyamutsa out of the house and punched her in the stomach, slapped and kicked her all over her body.
Nyamutsa’s sister tried stopping Ndambane but overpowered her, she then asked for help from neighbours who then restrained him and took him to the local police station.
During cross examination Ndambane justified beating his wife saying that he was involved with another man and that Nyamutsa had left him for her lover.
Nyamutsa sustained injuries on her left arm and had bruises all over her.
