101 army officers graduate
8 December 2017
ONE hundred and one Zimbabwe National Army officers yesterday graduated in general squadron drill and small course infantry at Mechanised Brigade Headquarters at Inkomo Barracks in Harare.
In an interview with H-Metro, guest of honour Colonel Kenneth Chihumba urged officers to work closely with the public.
“I greatly appreciate this event as one of the best as it prepares these soldiers to be officers and for them to maintain good public relations with the public.
“I understand 135 students drawn from various army formations managed to take part but only 101 managed to graduate this day.
“I hope the number of female students will increase in time in upcoming courses, and i am deeply hurt to announce that some of the officers failed to complete the course due to medical conditions and one lost his life.
“The 18 months you spent here were worthwhile as witnessed by the well polished drills you displayed and high level of turnout you exhibited today,” said Col Chihumba.
Tendekayi Makoni from Mechanised Brigade HQ was one of the best students throughout the course.
Colonel Nyakurwa Nicholas from Zimbabwe Army Pay and Records Regiment managed to scoop the first runner up prize followed by Colonel Dennis Gwanzura from Zimbabwe Armoured Cars Reguiment, who was the second runner up at the graduation ceremony.
Paradzai Muchenje from Presidential Guard received a certificate at the event.
