15 years for serial robber
4 July 2018
A 47-YEAR-OLD serial robber who had become a marauding menace terrorising residents in Kwekwe was sentenced to an effective 15 years in jail.
Shadreck Ndlovu (47) appeared before Midlands Provincial Magistrate Phathekile Msipa facing seven counts of theft.
Ndlovu was initially sentenced to 21 years in prison before three were suspended on condition of good behaviour and the other three years were also suspended on condition that he pays back $6442 which is the total value of the properties he stole to the clerk of court before the end of August this year.
It is alleged that Ndlovu was using black magic (juju) to invade people’s houses and he would steal from them whilst they are there and would leave unnoticed.
It is the State’s case that from 2015 up to sometime this year in May Ndlovu had broken into several houses in Kwekwe and he was mainly targeting houses in low density suburbs some of which are in Msasa and he was stealing valuable household property which would give him loads of money after selling them. The things stolen included plasma television sets, decoders , laptops, Jack Daniels whiskey, and Samsung tablets and some money. The property which was stolen was valued at $6442.
Ndlovu was arrested when an informant tipped Kwekwe police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) unit that proceeded to raid his house in Mbizo. The CIDs found property worth $1100 which was yet to be sold.
