Sables back in camp
25 June 2018
ZIMBABWE senior men’s XV rugby squad, the Sables, have trooped back into camp ahead of their 2018 Rugby Africa Gold Cup second game away to Kenya in Nairobi this Saturday.
After a disappointing 23-all home draw with Morocco, the Sables have all to do to make sure that their aspirations for the 2019 Rugby World Cup remain on course.
The 2018 Rugby Africa Gold Cup is also serving as 2019 World Cup Qualifier hence the Sables ought to put the hard yards for either a top finish that comes with automatic qualification or silver medal finish which takes them to repechage.
Sables coach Peter de Villiers says ‘we are not down and out’ hence there is every ounce of hope to look forward to against Kenya and the other remaining games.
Already, Namibia have taken a huge lead in the Gold Cup competition but what the Sables could possibly look at is taking the challenge to Kenya to enhance their World Cup chances.
