TWO suspected armed robbers appeared in court yesterday facing charges of robbery.
Temba Chakabvira and Tonderai Moses Motokari were not asked to plead before the Magistrate Victoria Mashamba who remanded the case to May 28.
State opposed bail and advised the accused to apply for bail at the High Court.
It is reported that on May 7, 2018, Chakabvira and Motokari acting in connivance with Tedius Tatenda Damba, who is in custody, went to Mandioma Shop at Murewa Centre and used a metal object to force open the door to gain entry.
The accused allegedly stole various groceries valued at US$2 225 and drove off in a stolen getaway Honda Fit.
On the second count on May 10 around 11pm, the accused hired a motor vehicle and went to Sunningdale where Chakabvira and Damba who is on remand on the same charge, emerged from a dark place and joined Motokari in robbing a complainant of his motor vehicle including a Samsung cellphone and dumped him at Sunningdale Bridge.
The motor vehicle was recovered in the custody and control of Chakabvira.
Accused persons further picked Cleopas Kunyongana whom they gave a lift along Harare-Rusape road.
They robbed him of his Android Staylo cellphone, bag, wallet containing complainant’s particulars and $350.
Total value of goods stolen was $453; the complainant’s wallet was recovered in the custody of Chakabvira.
They also reportedly offered a lift to Kelvin Nyatsungo from Nyazura to Rusape and along the way he was ordered to surrender all his valuables and had nothing to give.
He was assaulted and dumped along the road and the accused drove off.
Nyatsungo proceeded to ZRP Nyazura and made a police complaint.
