BASHED OVER MEAT
27 October 2016
A KUWADZANA man assaulted his wife after she asked him to give her money to buy some meat.
Washington Zulu, 46, appeared before Mbare magistrate Shelly Zvenyika charged with physical abuse.
He did not deny the charges but admitted that he got angry and slapped her.
“Your Worship, I admit to the charges, I was angry that is why I assaulted her,” said Zulu.
The wife-basher was fined $50 or 20 days in jail.
The State, led by Walter Matsenga, proved that on the fateful day, Zulu came home with a plastic bag with some groceries and his wife Beauty Chinwadzimba welcomed him.
To her surprise, Zulu refused to give her the plastic bag that had meat among other groceries.
The court heard that meat was among the ingredients in the meal Chinwadzimba needed to prepare.
Despite Zulu’s refusal to give her the plastic bag, she insisted that she needed it, raising the ire of the accused.
At the height of the argument, the court heard, Zulu pummelled his wife.
Chinwadzimba lodged a complaint with the police, leading to Zulu’s arrest.
