30 March 2018

Easter is upon us and in true holiday style there is so much activity lined up in all parts of the country.

Churches have been flocked with Christians who are determined to celebrate the proper meaning of the holiday and devote their time to Christ in exchange for his sacrifice.

The word is to be wary of accidents that are likely to occur as people engage in different merry-making goings on as it is the time most lives are claimed.

H-Metro caught up with a number of prominent figures who took their time to reveal their Easter plans and this is what they had to say:

JOSEPHINE KANENGONI: DIVAS INC EDITOR
Easter is a time for my annual spiritual spring clean. The reminder of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice for me puts into perspective just how much of a gift He gave to me and to not take that for granted.
If New Year is about personal resolutions then Easter is definitely about making my spiritual resolutions. It is a time of reflection, renewal and restoration!
Spending some time with family. To be surrounded by family and loved ones is always a must on special holidays. I’ll also try to get some time for myself. Get some solitude to spend quality time in conversation with God.

Sulu

SULUMAN CHIMBETU: MUSICIAN
Let’s enjoy our Easter holiday. Take it easy on the roads, no to speeding and overspending, don’t drink and drive.
Above all let’s support our Dendera Brand and other local music brands. Asante Sana!

BEEFY HARRISON: ZIM HIP HOP AWARDS FOUNDER
As a Christian from Palm Sunday the entire Holy week is a time of prayer and meditation on the word.
Following the daily activities Jesus did during this week right up till he was crucified and rose from the dead. Easter is a time that I am reminded of the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made, dying for my sins.
This Easter I will be at home spending time with family meditating my next moves and using this time to pray for the way forward. However I will knock down a few drinks just to loosen up lol.

Pah Chihera

PAH CHIHERA: AFRO FUSION MUSICIAN
AS a Christian Easter to me is more of a miracle, victory over death. Will spend the holiday at church thanking God for the eternal life he granted us, with my family of course.

GILMORE TEE: RADIO AND TV PERSONALITY
Easter is a time to commentate the death of Jesus and his rising. For me, I always take time to remember, reflect and also celebrate what the Almighty has done for me and those around me.
It’s also a period of reflecting the first quarter of the year and see if I am on track and what I could do better to have a great year ahead.
I plan to spend time at home resting, as it’s been a busy first three months for me.

Phathisani Sibanda

PHATHISANI SIBANDA: RADIO PRESENTER
Only Jesus ndiye akafa akamuka and it won’t happen to you so I urge drivers to be responsible on the roads.
I will visit my mother at my rural home and spend time with her as we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

SIMBA TAGZ: PRODUCER AND ARTIST
Easter to me from my point of view is a commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a time where we give praises to the lord Jesus Christ for his sacrifice on the cross.
I will be attending Easter church services, hanging out with friends and adventuring on some sort of road trip out of town.

Alick Macheso

ALICK MACHESO: MUSICIAN
This is the time Christians around the world commemorate the death and resurrection of our Saviour Jesus Christ and as a fellow believer, what I can say is we are together.
I will spend the time with my fans. On Good Friday Eve I will be performing at Tanza Centre alongside Suluman Chimbetu then embark on a tour of Mutare, Chipinge and Checheche.
While we commemorate this special holiday, I urge Zimbabweans to be responsible on roads, we want an accident free Easter.

AMY PETERS: FASHION DESIGNER AND DJ
So for me, I acknowledge Easter as a Christian holiday honoring the resurrection of Christ, but as I am not a religious person, I see Easter as a time for family and friends to share together and a time to enjoy and celebrate.
This Easter holiday, I’ll be DJing, Easter holiday is a big weekend so I know gigs will be good, I’ll be playing on Saturday at Unplugged which will be great, and At Pablo’z Saturday night.
I also plan to spend some time catching up with friends and family, just going out and having a good time and it’s my birthday so it’s time to celebrate.

It’s that time of the year again we remember the death and resurrection of our Lord.
Though I will be busy with shows, I will spare time for church as I will pass through Prophet Magaya’s All Night Prayer.
I am inviting my fans to come and join me at Dandaro Inn on Friday, Takarangana on Saturday and on Sunday we are at Extra Mile Leisure Spot.

TOCKY VIBES: MUSICIAN
Easter is important to us as Christians. It is the time of the Christian calendar when we celebrate the life of Jesus Christ for his great sacrifice. As we remember his ‘death and rise’, let’s be responsible citizens and avoid mourning.
We have to complete the holiday celebrating.

NGONI MOTSI: FASHION DESIGNER
Easter to me means family, a time to unwind and observe what the holiday really means. I will be having a mini family trip to Victoria Falls in the spirit of bonding. Like many we will be taking advantage of the break to recharge our batteries and take on the rest of the year, work on a new collection and organise shows.

ROMEO GASA: MUSICIAN
I will spend the holiday with my fans as I have lined up some shows, that’s our life as musicians. However, in my thoughts I will celebrating with fellow Christians.
To fellow Zimbabweans, I say let’s be responsible in everything and avoid road carnages.

Bryn Mteki

NUTTY O: DANCEHALL ARTISTE
I am a strong believer in Christ and so Easter is a time I hold so dearly as a reflection of how Christ loved me so much.
Will get down to some church activities and spend the rest of my time in the studio getting creative.

TAFADZWA MOYO: FASHION DESIGNER
To me Easter is a time of reflection and renewal.
Beyond the celebration of Christ’s resurrection that most people focus on, I see it as time to spend with the people closest to me, as a time to reflect on my annual resolutions and see how far I have gone in achieving them.
I see it as a time to refocus my energies and reenergize myself for the remainder of the year.

HEPHZIBAR CHINODA: BUSINESSWOMAN
My understanding is that Easter is a time for new beginnings.Christ died for our sins and therefore celebrating Easter is celebrating the forgiveness of our sins.Easter is also a perfect time for me to spend time with family. This Easter I will at the Rainbow Towers for our church conference;Family of God Church.

LORRAINE MUGARIRI: ENTERPRENEUR
Easter is a time where myself, friends and family come together to celebrate in gratitude to what The Higher Power has given to us, a chance to really become by means of Jesus’ resurrection.
As I am not religious and come from places of different cultures and religions I do give thanks to God for the after-life. We will be going on a road trip with some friends.
