Chafa for Egypt, SA
27 December 2017
CAPS United could lose Devon Chafa for free amid indications that he is wanted for trials in South Africa and Egypt.
His agent Gibson Mahachi admitted there are many options for the player who will be a free agent in January.
Although he did not give destinations, H-Metro can confirm that Chafa is wanted in South Africa while a trip for trials in Egypt is certain.
“There are many possibilities as we speak. Yes he will go for trials but as for the destination I cannot divulge now.
“We are still working on a number of issues and I can not single out a club he is going for trials.
“So I think I will talk to you when I have a concrete possible deal,” said Gibson Mahachi.
H-Metro is reliably informed that an unnamed Egyptian club called the CAPS man for trials while South Africa’s Bidvest Wits are also interested.
The visa applications for the Egyptian trip have already been made.
“CAPS are likely to lose Chafa (Devon) for free. He is wanted in Egypt. He was called by a club there to go for trials and he has already applied for a visa,” said the source.
“Bidvest are also interested in Chafa and this means he will go there before or after Egypt.
“It is now a matter of going for a better deal or better team but as it stands chances are high that CAPS will lose Chafa for free,” added the source.
If Chafa made it in Egypt, he will be a third player from CAPS United to join a North African club, joining Abbas Amidu and Ronald Chitiyo who are in Egypt and Tunisia respectively.
The deals are coming after CAPS participated in the CAF Champions League last season in which they were booted out in the group stages.
