CAPS United new signing Chidiebere Abasirim has become a darling of many.

When the fans see the striker warming up or being introduced, there are wild cheers hoping that he will bring the much needed magic into the Green Machine fold.

However, not much has been seen of him as he is usually introduced in the dying minutes of the game.

Many people compare him to h is West African counterpart and rival Christian Epoupa Ntouba who has done well for Dynamos and feel the Nigerian will show what he is made of.

Against Dynamos on Sunday, he was introduced in the last five minutes, again much to the applause of the Caps United supporters.

In the first edition of the Harare Derby, in which Caps lost 2-0 to Dynamos, Chidi as many prefer to call him, came in the second half and according to assistant coach Fungai ‘Tostao’ Kwashi he had a good game.

“The Champions league resulted in us losing key players. We lost attacking players in Abbas and Rooney and now Tsipa. Chidi had a decent game. We believe with more games he will get there,” said Kwashi, then.

It is no doubt that a lot is expected from the Nigerian who was signed to replace and bolster the Caps United attack that lost Abbas Amidu, Ronald Chitiyo to some foreign clubs and veteran Leonard Tsipa who has since assumed a technical role at the team.

Kwashi believes with more games ‘Chidi’ will deliver the much needed results.

In that game, (Harare derby first encounter) Caps United missed their striker Dominic Chungwa through suspension and his (Chidi) introduction was welcomed with hope by the Green army loyalists.

“Yes it was a big blow for us, he is our top scorer right now and any team would miss their top goal scorer but let’s not give an excuse that Chungwa was not there but it’s football and it wasn’t our day and well done to Dynamos they got the three points,” he said.
