MIDFIELDER Ronald Chitiyo believes the friendly games against continental heavyweights such as Cote d’Ivoire will be key for the Warriors to realise their full potential.
The Warriors will travel for their first preparatory game against the Elephants in Abidjan on Boxing Day.
Chitiyo was one of the few Warriors players who made their way to the unveiling of the NetOne sponsorship.
The Harare City man thinks things are going in the right direction for the Warriors who are set to gather into camp ahead of the trip to the Ivorians.
“I think so far so good, the way things are being handled only gives us the opportunity to be ready in time for the tournament.
“Playing against Ivory Coast, I think it’s an advantage to us playing with a team like that,” he said.
Chitiyo says the underdog tag on the Warriors will be motivation to them and that they will try to use that to their advantage.
“The group has good teams with a superior history but we want to make it far at the tournament therefore it is important for us to focus on what we can do as a team and use that to our advantage.
“The support from everyone makes it more important for us as players to want to do more for the team.
“Everyone has a chance to make the squad and I believe we have a good team,” he said.
