Men nabbed for rape, robbery
15 December 2017
TWO men have been arrested for allegedly raping a 26-year-old Chitungwiza woman before robbing her of a cellphone valued at US$15.
Asidi white, 27, and Stephen Dzire, 27, were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa charged with rape and robbery.
The matter was remanded to January 28.
The State, represented by Sabastian Mutizirwa, alleges that on November 17, the complainant was with her workmate at her house.
It was reported that White got into the complainant’s room and used a machete to threaten them and took a Samsung cell phone.
It was reported that he took the complainant’s workmate to their shop after he indicated that they should give him money.
While they were on their way, White reportedly ordered the complainant to sit down before he took her to a bushy area and raped her before they left.
On November 30, at around 10pm White came to the complainant’s shop and tried to break in using an iron bar and a machete.
The complainant identified White as the man who raped her leading to his arrest.
On December 2, Dzire was arrested after the cell phone, which they had stolen was tracked using an Econet tracking system.
During the investigations, one Evans Magunje was arrested and told the police officers that he bought it from Dzire.
Dzire was arrested and failed to account for the cellphone.
