City Queens brand grows

HARARE City Netball Queens have proved to be the dream team for many players if the huge turnout at their trials this week is anything to go by.
Speaking to H-Metro yesterday, the club’s coach Ropafadzo Mutsauki said the turn up was an indication that they are now a force to reckon with.
“This really shows that the players like something at Harare city. I’m now convinced we are now a fast growing brand.
“Most of the players that showed up are youngsters. If I work with them for a whole season, they will become a force to reckon with,” he said.
“Most coaches considers experience more and one thing they do not understand is young players (stabilise) the team. They understand the concept of endurance and that’s the reason we managed to win most of my games last season with only a handful of players.”
Mutsauki said he was also looking at the skills, height, and discipline.
“Discipline is very vital. I cannot work with a person who has her own agenda and cannot follow instructions. Discipline on and off the pitch is needed. So during the training I was able to see who does what. Some are good at passing necessary comments. I also look at that,” he said.
The City Queens coach was looking midfield players and shooters.
“We over worked one person at the center last season hence the need to strengthen the mid-section.
“Last season the players that I had groomed, joined the army and one joined Ngezi Platinum,” he said.
City Queens star Mercy Mukwadi said the move by the club to beef up the team is welcome.
“This is just the beginning this year. It’s going to be blazing. We are taking the league that’s what I know,” she said.
