City want third sip
21 September 2018
HARARE City captain Tendai Samanja says they are targeting to defend the Chibuku Super Cup and become the first club to win it three times.
The Sunshine Boys have won the trophy twice, in 2015 and 2017 while FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum won it in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
The Chibuku Cup holders are starting the campaign against Bulawayo City at Rufaro this afternoon.
“We are in this competition to win it again for the third time.
“We won it twice and we are targeting to win it again but we will take each game as it comes,” said Samanja.
“The draw is tricky, we are not undermining our opponent but we just want a positive result.
“The team we are facing is a good team, it’s just that positive results are not coming their way but we will do our best to defend the trophy,” he added.
Samanja said everyone has an equal opportunity of winning the tournament and they are not even the favourites going into this game.
“We all have a 50\50 chance of winning the cup, only hard work and team work will guarantee us a win.
“We are all equal and the chance of claiming it, no one has a guaranteed win on them,” he said.
