CUT student set for exhibition
18 October 2018
A Chinhoyi University of Technology student is set to hold her academic exhibition running under the theme “Outside the box” from November 5 to 7.
The former H-Metro intern sub-editor Bridget Mutukwa will be showcasing her 40- piece exhibition focusing on furniture and kitchen utensils at Chaedza Primary School in Chinhoyi.
In an interview, Mutukwa said she used her creativity to come up with the theme and designs.
“The theme ‘Outside the box’ is meant to invite the audience on a journey to have an appreciation of art degrees.
“My designs are mainly for kitchen utensils and salons where they are meant to make life easy for indoors use.”
“The designed pieces are meant to save space and I am designing for small spaces so some designs combine a number of storage units.
“It’s a 40 piece-showcase and the official opening is on November 5 at 10 am where I will be showcasing my original design I have made during the course.”
The function will be graced by Apostle Jimmy Muwandi while musician Webster Mubayirenyi will provide entertainment.
The art and exhibition is a compulsory course done in partial fulfilment of the programme of Creative Art and Industrial Design.
It is done in the eighth semester where one is requested to come up with a solo exhibition showcasing the works of art done from their first semester to present.
The exhibition opens doors of opportunities for students as they help them to market themselves and also get employment opportunities.
