Davido finally coming
20 December 2017
AFTER being postponed and rescheduled on three or so occasions, Nigerian superstar Davido will finally perform in Zimbabwe in 10 days’ time.
This time around, the Skelewu singer won’t be coming for the My Lily Show but rather the 2017 Shut Down Gig slated for Alexandra Sports Club on December 29.
Initially, Davido was billed to grace Jah Prayzah’s album launch on October 13 at HICC but failed to make it to Harare following his arrest in Lagos in connection with the death of friends.
His detention in the Nigerian Island saw him missing on the trip to Harare where Tuku and Winky D were roped in as Davido’s replacements.
Afterwards, Davido was scheduled to visit Harare on November 25 but the show was postponed to December 1 after it dawned that the venue had been booked.
Many a fan were kept guest after the December 1 show was called off again without further explanation.
Since Davido has been ‘freed’ and paid up his performance fees, show organisers say they decided to settle for December 29.
And this time around, show organisers and 2 Kings Entertainment financier – Tichaona Mharadze – has finally assured that it’s a done deal with no further postponements.
“The year 2017 has been a difficult year for most of us but we won’t throw in the towel.
“In our cases, we achieved a lot as we also hosted international artistes.
“We managed to take Mafikizolo to Kadoma and Davido is still in our plans.
“Of course we once postponed his shows on three occasions but this time around, he is definitely coming and he will perform at Alex Sports Club,” said Mharadze.
The reigning National Arts Merit Award Outstanding promoter has assured fans that the ladies’ man is Harare bound.
“We have always been in touch with him and this time around he will make it to Harare on December 29 since he will be performing in neigbouring South Africa.
“As it stands, he will be definitely flying to Harare.
“Of course people have been saying Harare will be dry but this is the best we can offer for our fans with class.
“We have since stepped up preparations for the show and we hope it will leave to expectations.”
As expected, Davido will share the stage with Jah Prayzah.
The two superstars – Davido and Jah Prayzah – are likely to be supported by the bulk of artistes from Military Touch Movement.
MTM is made up of youthful crooner Andy Muridzo, DJ Tamuka, Nutty O among us.
2 Kings Entertainmnt loyal wheel-spinner DJ Iroq will be hoping for a slot at the show as he enjoys a health relationship with the stable.
Meanwhile, advance tickets to the show are already on sale at all Coloursel outlets and around the capital.
The ordinary ticket is going for $10 and $20 at the gate with limited tickets available while VIP tickets are being sold at $20 and $30 at the gate.
Fans will have to fork out $50 for VIP and $100 at the gate.
