DAVIDO’S ZIMBABWE APOLOGY!
13 March 2018
. . . Ginimbi brings Naija star for April 21 gig
NIGERIAN superstar, Davido – real name David Adeleje Adeleke – has dropped a promotional video clip confirming his April 21 show at the Harare International Conference Centre.
The 25-year-old star, who will be hosted by flamboyant businessman Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, has also apologised for his no-show on previous occasions he was billed to grace our shores, especially late last year.
And after at least three failed attempts to bring him to Zimbabwe, Ginimbi took it upon himself and secured the deal with Davido who has since released a promotional video, circulating on social networks.
The Skelewu hit-maker shares the stage with Jah Prayzah, ExQ and Killer T while a local promoter has also partnered youthful tycoon.
In the promotional video, Davido said:
“I will be coming to Zimbabwe for real this time. I wanna apologise to my fans who have been waiting for me.
“My big brother Ginimbi is bringing me down and it’s gonna be crazy on the 21st of April at HICC.”
Initially, the Nigerian entertainer was billed to perform at Jah Prayzah’s album launch on October 13 last year at HICC.
However, he failed to make it to Harare following his arrest in Lagos one the eve of the launch in connection with the death of his friends.
His detention in the Nigerian Island saw him missing on the trip to Harare where Oliver
“Tuku”Mtukudzi and Winky D were roped in as Davido’s replacements.
Afterwards, Davido was scheduled to visit Harare on November 25 but the show was postponed to
December 1 after it dawned that the venue had been booked.
As a result, his visit had been a matter of conjecture after the December 1 show was called off again without further explanation.
Since Davido was ‘freed’ and paid up his performance fees, show settled for December 29 but still he could not show up.
And this time around, it took Ginimbi’s intervention to ensure that Davido visits our shores again.
His much-anticipated show has come at a time when Ginimbi, who is known for splashing cash on his birthdays, has decided to bring the same concept home.
H-Metro is reliably informed that Davido’s show, which has been dubbed 30 Billion Concert, will certainly attract Harare’s well-heeled who are set to be housed in a VVIP enclosure.
It is understood that Ginimbi’s inner circle at the show will be donning a specially designed dress code at the event.
And following the establishment of Liqour Boys, a one-one stop watering hole in Mt Pleasant, Ginimbi is also set to splash expensive beverages like Moet, VeuveCliqout, Ciroc and expensive whiskeys as has become the norm.
Prices of show tickets will be advised in due course while additions or alterations to the line-up will be announced in due course, event coordinators say.
However, it is Davido’s assurance that he is coming which is set to raise the appeal of the show.
If Davido visits our shores this time around, he would have silenced his doubting Thomases while his failure would be another blow for merry-makers.
