DEVINE DEAL CLOSE
2 July 2018
CHICKEN Inn are now close to reaching an agreement with ABSA Premiership side Golden Arrows for the signature of left back Devine Lunga.
Yesterday the club spokesperson Tavengwa Hara confirmed the developments saying they will release the player when everything has been finalised.
“The negotiations are now advanced but we will only release the player when everything is in order in terms of the negotiations.
“We are already planning for life after him. Infact, by December we knew he was on his way out and we started planning for that,” Hara told H-Metro.
The Warriors left back impressed at the recent COSAFA Cup lifted by Zimbabwe, resulting in a number of clubs calling him for trials.
However, Chicken Inn declared that they will not let a player that plays for the national team go for trials in SA.
The player has already shown his quality, Hara said, then.
“We were never going to release him for trials because we believed that any serious club would come for negotiations instead.
“He is a player who was playing at an advanced level and we were confident that if a club was serious in signing him, they would come and sign him,” Hara said.
Devine had also been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs who have been on a rebuilding exercise, but it was Golden Arrows who showed seriousness in signing the player.
The departure of Lunga will leave Joey Antipas’ Chicken Inn weaker and it comes after goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze left to join Baroka.
“We knew about Chipezeze and Lunga’s imminent departure and we prepared for it.
“That is why we already had Xolisani Ndlovu as the replacement for left back and he was playing when Lunga was away at Cosafa.
“For Chipezeze, we also got another goalkeeper at Yadah and we believe that we are covered enough in that area,” Hara said.
