DIRTY MUKAMBI ESCAPES
3 November 2017
GODFREY Mukambi’s outrageous attack on Clive Augusto seems to have gone unpunished as PSL focus on charging Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum over violence.
In the nasty incident, which should have seen the Dynamos utility man seeing red, Mukambi head-butts Augusto in an off the ball incident, something captured by Supersport live.
Mukambi’s off the ball incident, which was dangerous given he attacked the back of the player’s head, should have attracted sanctions after the match as the referee missed it.
But that will not be the case for now as Mukambi is set to line-up against Chapungu at National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Early this week, indications were that the disciplinary committee to sit on the said match, would largely utilise match reports from the officials and the police report.
That match, which ended 2-0 in favour of Ngezi Platinum, was marred by violence, resulting in at least two long stoppages. And such a situation have overshadowed some small important football details.
PSL have since summoned both Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum to appear before the disciplinary committee over the disturbances.
“It will mostly be about the reports and in that case, maybe if Ngezi Platinum had complained about it, it could have been addressed. Now Ngezi will be more preoccupied with defending their position in the whole situation which saw their supporters clash with DeMbare supporters,” said a source.
The hearing is likely to reveal more in terms of what transpired, amid anger expressed by the Dynamos supporters’ leadership who feel no one has listened to their side of the story.
“Both clubs are being charged for breaching order 31 of the PSL rules and regulations. Dynamos FC are being charged for violence and pitch invasion while Ngezi Platinum Stars are being charged for violence and disrupting the normal procedures of the match,” PSL said.
Although DeMbare know they will face the music for the role of their fans in the disturbances, they turn their attention to Chapungu on Sunday.
At 58 points, trailing Ngezi Platinum FC Platinum by two points, Lloyd Mutasa’s charges must win to remain on course for the league title.
