Dokora dismisses abusive teacher video

PARENTS were touched by a video circulating on social media of a teacher brutally beating students believed to be of a high school in Gokwe.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Lazarus Dokora quickly dismissed allegations that the incident took place at Cheziya High School considering the language and attire put on by the teacher and students.
“I have seen the video of a teacher brutally beating a student suggesting that the incident took place at Cheziya High School,” said Minister Dokora.
“From the look of things, our own people have not yet confirmed that it is Cheziya High School and I was looking at the teacher’s dress code, I do not believe it’s our own.
“Investigations are taking place and also verify if that school puts on the same uniform with other reports on social media suggesting that it took place in one of our neighbouring country,” Min Dokora said.
However, one of Cheziya High School parents close to the school headmistress told H-Metro that she was busy for the past two days reporting to education district over the video showing a teacher, dragging and brutally beating a female student with a whip.
“The headmistress has been busy over the video writing reports to the district office saying enemies of the school are up to tarnish the good school with a good record,” said the parent.
“We are still to get full information concerning the incident but if we have such teachers in Zimbabwe physically abusing students, there is need to remove them from our best teachers,” added the parent.
