Duo nabbed for removing political posters
4 June 2018
TWO men from Epworth have been nabbed for violating the Electoral Act which prohibits the destruction of electoral posters.
Peter Bizare and Tatenda Kamutungunde were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.
It is the State’s case that on June 30, the duo approached the complainant who was in his wooden tuck-shop and pasted two posters on the wall bearing Zalera Makari’s images without his consent.
In the process, they removed pictures of Emmerson Mnangagwa that were pasted on the front of the shop.
Later that day, the duo acting in common purpose with others who are still at large went to the complainant’s house and confronted him warning him not to remove the posters they had pasted on his shop.
The State led by Linda Gadzikwa opposed bail stating that crimes of this nature are on the rise in reference to the case of Luke Tamborinyoka who was apprehended last week facing the same charge.
Magistrate Mugwagwa granted the duo $20 bail each and the matter was remanded to July 13.
