Organisers of the annual Harare International Festive of Arts have engaged Zimbabwe’s mobile money service provider EcoCash in celebrating this year’s local talent in the arts sector.

HIFA 2018 runs from May 1-6 under the theme: “We Count”.

Event organisers announced the partnership yesterday where the mobile money service producer will hold their multicultural fete under the theme: “Celebrate HIFA the Ecocash way”.

In her presentation, HIFA Executive Director Maria Wilson urged the public to get prepared for a lot of surprises on the Saturday of the festival as Ecocash will make it a day to remember.

“We are very very proud to be receiving support from a massive brand in the country like EcoCash.

“Just listen to the name itself and it will tell you more about what to expect on a Saturday of the festival.

“Saturday of HIFA is well known of being incredible and more of a family day,” she said.
She added:

“Family day is for everybody, just like EcoCash is for everybody. Everywhere, anywhere everyone is talking about EcoCash.

“It is one of those companies that believes HIFA is for everybody just like them Ecocash is a brand for everybody.”

Founder and HIFA’s board of trustee, Manuel Bagorro, said:

“EcoCash is a brand that can get into you and be part of you. It’s beginning to go global a development we are seeking for the Arts industry.

“Just like EcoCash, we want the Arts to be in people’s blood stream.

“We are saying to the world look at our country, look at our art, and look at our business. We want the arts sector to support the president’s mantra #Zim is open for business.”

Bagorro went on to underscore performances to expect on the festival.

“There will be at least 200 individuals and groups coming from around the world to help us celebrate what we are proud of.

“Will be working with Chicago Brass Players and local brass players as well.

“On Saturday we are going to introduce Trezol which is currently pushing new directions and questions on what the show should be.

“Thursday we are going to have a local person of the same type like Trezol (name withheld) who thrives to connect music and fashion,” he said.

He added:

“This year we have decided to bring an incredible Dancehall DJ from Netherlands alongside an incredible Dutch Artiste. All surprises.

“We are delighted to introduce a pair of young, talented and lively guys the “Chicky Chucky” who are going to be introducing the practical artistic aspect in the industry.”

The EcoCash brand manager Gordon Pemba confirmed their partnership saying it will contribute big in this year’s festival of the arts.

“We were part of last year’s HIFA but we did not participate as much as we are going to do this year.

“Definitely this year is going to be something bigger and better than before.

“Let me give you assurance that this year’s HIFA is going to be celebrated the Ecocash way. EcoCash will be there for you, come expecting more,” he said.
