Fight over kids’ fees
12 October 2018
A HARARE man yesterday appeared before the Harare Civil Court demanding an order to be discharged from paying maintenance and redirect the money to clear school fees arrears for his children.
Luckmore Nyarumwe claimed in court that there was no need for him to continue paying maintenance for the children he sired with Happiness Kaseke when the two children had school fees arrears.
Nyarumwe indicated that it would be best to use the money to settle the debt.
He said:
“I am applying for maintenance discharge since the two children have stopped going to school.
“I am staying with the children; they ran away from their mother claiming there is inadequate food.”
Kaseke responded saying:
“He is lying; I have been paying school fees for the children and I have a letter from school to prove that.
“He only stays with one child, “said Kaseke.
The presiding magistrate Sheila Nazombe instructed Luckmore to go to children’s court and deal with the issue of the children’s custody.
The magistrate dismissed the application.
