GAMECOCKS TO LOSE MHLANGA?
15 December 2016
CHICKEN Inn could again lose national team defender Lawrence Mhlanga in January.
The Warriors defender is expected to travel to Gabon for the 2017 AFCON finals in January but H-Metro understands that before he can make the trip, he may wave goodbye to Chicken Inn.
Yesterday the agent representing the club, Gibson Mahachi, said it was too early to discuss a move.
“Yes he has impressed some clubs of late but there is nothing much to talk about at the moment. It is still too early to discuss a move for the player,” said Mahachi.
Mhlanga’s expected move comes at a time when his central defence partner at both club and national team Teenage Hadebe has also been snatched by Kaizer Chiefs.
An H-Metro source said Mhlanga is a target of a number of South African clubs, including Golden Arrows.
“Now Hadebe, Mhlanga and Tafadzwa Kutinyu are the players that are set to leave the club in January. Hadebe’s move to Kaizer is almost complete, Kutinyu has always been admired by Golden Arrows while Mhlanga has a number of clubs watching him including Arrows,” said the source.
As things stand Chicken Inn could soon enter the transfer market to look for replacements.
Their chairman Lifa Ncube, in the last weeks, did not rule out entering the market to try and rebuild the team.
This season they lost Michelle Katsvairo and Edmore Chirambadare to Kaizer Chiefs.
They also lost their skipper and 2015 Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year Danny “Deco” Phiri to Golden Arrows.
The Gamecocks did not have the best of seasons but they finished well to ensure a top four finish.
