HARD WORK KEY: MARUFU
7 November 2017
VETERAN Chapungu star Philip Marufu says hard work, passion and discipline have kept him on the pitch.
Marufu showed why he is still in the Chapungu squad in their 1-0 defeat to Dynamos on Sunday.
He told H-Metro that he is happy to be working with younger players, imparting his knowledge and experience.
“It is all because of the coaches who are there for me and the whole team. I listen and do what they tell us to do. I train hard and also love the game and that keeps me going,” he said.
The former DeMbare star said he was disappointed they lost the game right at the end.
“I’m disappointed that we lost but it happens in the game. If you lose concentration, it is bound to happen and we lost.
“I’m happy with how the young players are doing, they are adapting and we are playing as a unit,” he said.
Chapungu are home to several experienced players like Allan Tavarwisa, Osborne Mukuradare and Patrick Kumbula.
Marufu, who once inspired Dynamos in the CAF Champions league, still remains a favourite of DeMbare fans who cheered him as he made his way back into the tunnel.
