A MARONDERA woman says her son becomes violent whenever he gets drunk.
Elizabeth Manuel opened up in the Harare civil court seeking for a peace order against her son Richard Manuel.
“He is my son your worship, but he is in the habit of insulting and assaulting me whenever he is drunk.
“He even destroys my property claiming that it is his late father’s property and he is also in the habit of insulting our tenants, making them leave our house,” she said.
Elizabeth said her son once ran away from home.
“He ran away from home when he was 16 years only to return this year and has caused havoc in the family.
“I am living in fear of him your worship, I need to be protected and he does not even contribute to the house expenses, all he does is drink beer and insult people.
“I am also tired of these insults and assaults from my own child, I can’t take it anymore,” said Elizabeth.
In response, Richard denied the allegations.
“She is lying your worship, I do not insult her or assault anyone and I am also surprised with her allegations.
“Why would l do that to my own mother who fends for me, I think this is just a plot,” said Richard.
Presiding magistrate Lazini Ncube granted the peace order in Elizabeth’s favour.
