‘He threatens me with club hammer’

A HARARE woman claims that her husband threatens to strike her with a club hammer each time they pick up an argument.
Darlia Marisa opened up at the Harare civil court where she applied for a protection order against her husband Tendai Marisa citing verbal and physical abuse.
“Your Worship, I am being harassed in front of my children by my husband who also uses vulgar language against me.
“He is doing all this since he is now engaging in extra marital affairs.
“He threatens to kill me with a club hammer and I can’t take it anymore as he threatens to kill me.
“At the moment, he packed my bag saying that my relatives are coming very soon kuzonditora ndave chitunha.
“How can I stay under these conditions? Help me your Worship.
“He said that he wants to sell our house and our kids afterwards.
“He also said that I am no longer suitable for him and he already has another lover,” said Darlia.
In response, Tendai said:
“She is my wife, so I can’t accept the protection order.
“I just warned her from travelling during the night, I didn’t even harass her and she is lying.
“How can a woman arrive home at 10pm every day from work, munhu ane vana?
“She has many unmarried friends who are ruining her,” said Tendai.
Presiding magistrate Amanda Muridzo granted the protection order in Dalia’s favour.
