Hubby locks wife in the toilet

A CITY woman accused her husband of locking her in the toilet for hours as well as starving her.
Dephine Mutemeri was seeking for a protection order at the Harare civil court against Nesbit Mananana.
“Nesbit is my husband and we have been married for years. He is abusive in nature and I used to tolerate it until the abuse got worse.
“He beats me up whenever he feels like it and he insults me using vulgar language. He locks me in the toilet for hours and when he finally opens the door he shows no remorse for locking me in,” said Dephine.
Dephine said her husband has been starving him after being served with court papers.
“When he was served with the papers, he started hiding food and sometimes I’m forced to go to bed on an empty stomach.
“He even locked me outside the house and I had to sleep outside on the verandah,” she added.
In response, Nesbit denied all the allegations saying he still loves his wife.
“I have never locked her in the toilet on purpose but I did it once by mistake.
“She is my wife and I love her so much and I would never hurt her on purpose.
“I never locked her out of the house as she claims since she has her own set of keys hence. In addition, I am a security guard who works in the evening so I couldn’t have locked her outside because I was at work,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Larzin Ncube granted the protection order in Dephine’s favour.
