‘I CAN’T WAIT TO DANCE TO VHENENZIA’

. . . Dembo’s daughter on wedding
FENISTIA Linah Tazvivinga, daughter to the late Leonard Dembo, says she can’t wait to dance to one of her late father’s songs on her wedding day.
Dembo died on April 9, 1996 aged 37.
And 22 years after the sungura legend’s death, Fenistia said she can’t wait to dance to the track Vhenenzia penned by her father when she was only five years old, she said in an interview with H-Metro.
“I have no much to say about my father but his songs are rich with words of wisdom.
“In the track Vhenenzia, he advises me to behave well and on my wedding day I will dance to this song like nobody else,” she said.
“To be very honest, I was very young when my dad passed on so I only have a few blurred memories and I don’t know if the memories are true or just imaginary fantasies.
“In memory of my father, to the world he was ‘THE KING OF SUNGURA’ and it is now 22 years and there are 1,013,913 English words but I never could string together any of them to accurately explain how much I wish he was still here.
“To some he is the legend, or Chitekete hit master, but to me he was and always will be ‘dad’ and till now no man can ever take his place in my heart.
“Though I know he is in a better place right now, we miss him every single day, we love him always and forever. May his soul rest in peace.”
Fenistia, a hard core old skool music fan, described Dembo’s music as life manual since most of his songs speak about daily life and narrated the messages in most of the songs.
Fenistia who turns 28 on June 1, also enjoys music from Marshal Munhumumwe, Paul Matavire, James Chimombe, John Chibadura, Marko Sibanda, Oliver Mtukudzi and System Tazvida.
