I OWE IT TO MACHESO: MUCHAPEDZA JNR
5 July 2018
Muchapedza Junior, son to Tedius Matsito, says he cannot wait to get into the studio after sungura ace Alick Macheso pledged to assist him record his debut album.
The 16-year-old says Macheso’s pledge has come at the right time as he has been struggling to keep his ailing father’s music relevant after taking over the reins.
“I can’t wait to record for free at Baba Sharo’s Alema Studios in Chitungwiza.
“When I approached him, he gave me the green light to come and record at his studios for free and I can’t wait for the day to come.
“I might be a student who is trying to balance between studies and music but I have a legacy to protect and one person who has helped me protect it is Baba Sharo,” he said.
Muchapedza said his task was simple as he was starting his career when his father is still alive even though he is unwell.
“I’m blessed to have mentors like my father and of course Macheso.
“It’s an opportunity I have been given to start my career on a flier and it feels good working with greats like Macheso.
“I will never grow big headed after getting his help because I know I’m safe in his hands like most artistes who also passed through his mentorship,” he added.
Macheso is on record having assisted sons of departed legends like Tendai and Morgan Dembo to follow in their dads’ footsteps.
Tryson has also benefitted immensely from him while other sons and daughters of legends always consult him when they need his expertise.
