8 February 2018
SACKED ex-Bikita South parliamentarian Jeppy Jaboon, 45, yesterday appeared in court on allegations of assaulting businessman Energy Mutodi.
Jaboon allegedly assaulted Mutodi over a social media video some time last year.
In a summons matter, Jaboon, appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa who deferred the matter to February 28 for trial.
He is out on free bail.
The State, represented by Sebastian Mutizirwa alleges that on August 25 last year, at around 8pm, Jaboon in the company of Munyaradzi Shoko and Charles Mungoshi (junior) proceeded to Holiday Inn in Harare where they found the complainant, Energy Mutodi enjoying his drink.
They approached him and accused him of uploading a video on the Facebook platform (social media) which was not to their liking and tantamount to insulting their boss.
An argument ensued and whilst acting in common purpose they assaulted Mutodi all over his body.
They went on to tear off his jacket and he (Mutodi) was rescued by hotel security.
