POPULAR television and radio presenter, Kanyemba Bonzo and his brother had a close shave with death on Sunday afternoon as they attempted to cross a flooded bridge in Nyamapanda.
KB, as the presenter is popularly known, was accompanied by his brother Andrew Kauswa when the Toyota Land Cruiser they were travelling in swerved halfway through a Mudzi river bridge.
A suspicious villager recorded the incident and the video has gone viral on social media.
“I am safe, we survived the accident on Sunday afternoon, and neither of us sustained any injuries. I am back in Harare and everything is ok.
“We were driving back from my brother’s rural homestead and we had no option but try to across.
“The floods seemed calm to us and we had so much faith in the Land Cruiser before the floods overpowered it and my brother could no longer see the edges.
“He lost control of the vehicle,” narrated the presenter.
In the video, villagers who watched were quick to the rescue and the two were able to escape unscathed.
“I didn’t know that people recorded the incident, I started receiving calls from people worried if I was safe as of yesterday and even now.
“It’s just God’s hand for us to survive, now I know death can be just in the next minute,” he said.
KB and Kauswa only lost a few particulars due to the heavy floods and their vehicle was towed by a tractor from a nearby farm.
He has applauded efforts done by the villagers who were swift to the rescue.
“I am forever grateful to the villagers who rescued us,” he said.
