KHAMA, MUSONA GIVE ZIM CHANCE
9 January 2016
KHAMA Billiat and Knowledge Musona give the Warriors a big say at the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon, if they keep the form that saw them score three goals each during the qualifying campaign.
From the group B teams only Algeria have two players that scored more goals than Zimbabwe’s top scorers Khama and Musona.
Algeria, who they face on January 15 in the first game, was ruthless in front with El Arabi Hillel Soudani scoring seven goals in the campaign while Leicester’s Islam Slimani scored four.
Tunisia’s top scorer for the qualification was Yassine Chikhaoui with three goals in group A where they finished top with 13 points.
Sadio Mane was the top scorer for Senegal with three goals in a campaign they finished unbeaten.
However while Khama and Musona’s goal scoring prowess in the qualification campaign gives the Warriors a chance, the Warriors scored the lowest number of goals through-out the campaign when compared to the three other teams.
It demands that other players come to the party if the Warriors are to make an impact in Gabon.
Pasuwa’s Warriors scored 11 goals, Algeria had a massive 25 goals, Tunisia are second top scorers with 16 goals while Senegal had 13 goals.
Senegal however are the team with the best defence when the group B teams are compared as they only conceded two goals in the campaign.
Tunisia’s defence is second best as they conceded three goals while Zimbabwe conceded four.
Algeria have the worst defence when those statistics are considered as they conceded five goals in their group J matches.
