Local actresses have come together in a local TV soapie in a bid to tell the experiences of local women.
Title “Kuchina”, the soapie airs every Saturday at 6:30pm on ZTV and is dominated by a women cast of Tinopona Katsande, Rutendo Karipfuwe and Dalma Chiwerera.
It also features male actors Patrice Muzondiwa and Kenny Kondo.
The soapie that started airing last year in June is already in its fourth season.
The soapie was written and directed by Blessing “Bless” Gatsi and produced by Ronald Sigauke.
In an interview with one of the actresses, Rutendo, she said:
“Kuchina is all about telling the various experiences local women go through in their day to day lives and how they try to deal with them.
“It also shows what we go through but also comes up with solutions to try and help women.
“Basically as women, we want to try and help each other and empower each other hence this soapie Kuchina came up.
“We believe that as women together we can surely make a change and overcome some of the challenges that we face,” she said.
“As actresses we are also planning on having workshops that empower women in and out of Harare.
“All we want is to try and make a change for women.”
Producer of the soapie Sigauke said the project has been well received by viewers and want to continue to put out an inspiring production for local women.
