Lover’s wife in court for assault
12 February 2019
A Harare woman hauled her boyfriend’s wife to court accusing her of assaulting her in front of neighbours and at her workplace.
Talent Mudzera opened up at the Harare Civil Court where she applied for protection order against Memory Hoterere, citing physical abuse.
“It started last year when she accused me of having an affair with her husband.
“She always beats me up saying I should leave her husband in front of my bosses and neighbours.
“I want her to stop assaulting me and to let me work in peace.
“She shouts calling me all sorts of names in front of my neighbours,” said Madera.
In response, Hoterere denied the allegation saying:
“I didn’t assault her and I just asked her if she was having an affair with my husband.
“She is the one who damaged my property, tearing my clothes and my husband instructed me not to report to the police.
“My husband is the one who calls her which shows that they are having an affair behind my back,” she said.
Presiding Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti granted the protection order in Mudzera’s favour.
Hoterere was ordered not to physically abuse Mudzera.
