Machapa granted bail
13 July 2018
CAPS United midfielder Oscar Machapa and his fiancé Bridget Horwe are accused of assaulting the soccer player’s former girlfriend, Ania Makoni.
The two pleaded not guilty to assault charges when they appeared before Harare magistrate Tracy Muzondo who remanded the matter to August 17.
The two are out on $30 bail each.
The State Counsel Devoted Nyagano alleges that on July 7, around 5am, Ania was taken to Machapa’s house by her sister since she was pregnant.
The complainant’s sister left her at Machapa’s home.
The court heard that Machapa kicked her on the back and she fell down.
As she tried to force her way in the house, Bridget woke up and started assaulting her.
Machapa took a log and whipped the complainant across shoulders.
According to the State, the two accused people drove off leaving Ania behind.
As a result she phoned her sister, who then lodged a complaint with the police.
The medical affidavit, which is attached to the State papers shows that the assault was a threat to Ania’s pregnancy.
