GOSPEL musician Sabastian Magacha seems to be drifting from his usual genre if his forthcoming album Wonererwai Jesu is anything to go by.

Magacha has had a duet with sungura giant Alick Macheso, Prudence Katomeni Mbofana and Oskid who are not in his line of trade.

His followers have of late questioned the move to have secular musicians on his project and the singer believes it is a calling.

He said he is not diverting from his calling but he is moving with time and has a message for that audience.

“I was called to minister the word of God. The Bible says I will make you fishers of men and I believe I was called to fish from that audience that those artistes sing for. I believe this is new Saba and people will love the music,” he said.

“As artistes we should be creative and move with time. We should be versatile hence you see me incorporating jazz, sungura, I have also done two songs with MacDee and Oskid. They have their audience and the message will get to them,” he said.

Magacha said the song with Macheso, Maria naMarita, was God given and for a specific audience, describing the sungura giant as a humble.

“God gave me that song and Macheso was the best option to work with. It is on a sungura beat. I believe the message will get to the people who listen to his music.

“Getting him on the project was quite an experience. I did not believe he would agree to do a song with me but he is a simple man, I called him and sat down with him. He is a humble man who wishes to see the youth progressing. We offered him. He appreciated the work my guitarist had done,” he said.

The album carries 14 tracks and is due for release this coming week.

Saba has also gone commercial introducing a new system the music will be sold.

“The album will be launched in different phases. There is what we call the flash lock that has a password and branded Saba music. It is your personal storage which you can store your files.

“We also have the CD system which will be sold for US$1 for it to be affordable to all our followers,” he said.
