Magaya scouts soccer talent
20 June 2018
Prophet Walter Magaya hosted a soccer and netball tournament for eight rural and urban schools at Yadah grounds over the weekend. He told H-Metro that the tournament helped him identify talent and he spotted four players who may make it into Yadah FC during the window period.
“Sports is part of my daily life and this time I thought of selecting teams from my rural area and join them with Seke schools where I did my primary and secondary education,” said Prophet Magaya. “The tournament went well and all the teams were accommodated at Yadah hotel since Friday and we managed to identify talented players.
“Some of the young players will train with Yadah FC during the window period and if impressive, they might make it into the first team.
“I have plans to scout for talented young players in various rural and urban schools and if need be I will sponsor an under 20 tournament or league,” said Prophet Magaya.
One of the rural school teacher Bianca Moyoweshumba hailed Prophet Magaya for hosting rural schools at Yadah hotel saying the students tasted heavenly places.
“Our students and teachers were happy to have a feel of the hotel and may Prophet Magaya remain blessed for accommodating us,” said Moyoweshumba.
“Zvemuhotera tingazvizivirewo kupi isu vekumaruzevha dai pasina Prophet nevana vedu vakatamba zvakanaka pakauya Prophet kumusha.
“Teams that came from Mhondoro were the winners from another sports tournament held last month sponsored by Prophet in Mhondoro.
“We enjoyed best food and our students tasted heavenly realms for the past two days here and I want to believe our lives will never be the same again.
“Prophet pronounced a blessing to students set to sit for Ordinary level examinations this year and we are all happy,” said Moyoweshumba, a Maths teacher at Nyika Secondary School.
Schools that participated were Nyika Secondary, Ngezi High, St Oswald, Benhura Secondary, Seke 1 High, Seke 3 High, Zengeza 1 High and Yadah junior select.
