Mahachi in re-hot form

LAMONTVILLE Golden Arrows winger Kuda Mahachi will be hoping to carry his strong club form on to the international stage.
Mahachi, who has stood out in an increasingly impressive Durban-based side this season, is among the players in Norman Mapeza’s squad to face Liberia in the 2019 AFCON qualifier on June 11.
Abafana Bes’thende finished the 2016/17 campaign 8th on the log standings with 38 points and will be playing in the MTN top eight next season.
In their last ABSA premiership match on Saturday, Mahachi’s side beat Orlando Pirates 2-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
His fellow countrymen, Knox Mutizwa scored the winning goal for Arrows as the Buccaneers finished outside the top eight for the first time in the PSL era.
“It’s like I didn’t want the season to end. I was enjoying my game time week in week out. I had the best season ever since my arrival in South Africa.
“I enjoyed every game and Arrows made me feel at home. It’s like my second home. We managed a top eight finish and ended the season on a high note after beating Pirates,” he said.
“It’s one of those seasons you don’t want to end. I hope I will carry the form to the national team and benefit my country.”
Barring a setback Mahachi should be in the squad against Liberia next week.
Even if Mapeza decides Mahachi isn’t experienced enough to start, the former Chicken Inn forward makes an excellent bench option.
He also hailed Mutizwa’s instant impact since joining Arrows in January.
“He is someone I knew from home and could recommend anyway. He came and proved to everyone that he was a hot property. I am happy for him. He scored crucial goals and managed to settle with the club. He wanted game time and I’m glad he proved himself to the coaches.”
