Man commits suicide over cat

A 69-year-old man reportedly committed suicide following the death of a pet he lived with at an old people’s home in Borrowdale last Friday.
The unidentified man reportedly called his family friends including his lawyer informing them that he was failing to cope with life without the pet and left a suicidal note which is in the hands of police.
Acting provincial police spokesperson assistant inspector Simon Chazovachiyi confirmed the mishap urging members of the public to seek counselling to avoid such incidences.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to inform the public of a suicide case which occurred in Borrowdale Harare on Friday at around 1425 hours,” said Assistant Inspector Chazovachiyi.
“The deceased informed his family and friends about his pet’s death including his lawyer and the friends and his lawyer were shocked to discover his body in a pool of blood the following day.
“The police are urging members of the public to seek counselling from community, church leaders and relatives or visit office of police community relations and liaison officers at their nearest police stations for counselling,” said Assistant Inspector Chazovachiyi.
