MASHONALAND West A were crowned the darts club champion of champions for the fourth consecutive year at Munyati Power Station over the weekend.

This year’s edition saw 13 clubs from all over the country participating.

Bottom five teams Highlanders darts club, Gwanda district, Scopions Mashonaland central, Mwenezana lowveld and Sniper Storm Mashonaland central darts club received $200 prize money for participation.

Blanket Mine, Tamakwa darts club, RioTinto Zim and Flying Eagles Harare walked away with $300 each.

Raylton Harare, ZRP Buchwa and Raylton Bulawayo received $400 each.

The champions of the tournament walked away with $500.
Captain of the winning team Kudzai Nyemba could not hide.

“It feels good to be the four-time champions. Winning the title for the fourth time make us feel like we no longer have competition in Zimbabwe.

“Think as the A team Mash West, our darts president must organise an international tournament for us, then we compete with other clubs from Zone 6 countries, that way we can feel the pressure of competition,” he said.

Nyemba however expressed concern over the level of sponsorship.

“What pains me most is the fact that no one bothers to try and sponsor darts clubs in this country.

“We are talented and we have the potential to go far but because we don’t have resources. It is really difficult for us to show-case our best level of participation.

“We wish to encourage individuals and companies who are willing to sponsor to start looking at our leagues and consider helping us,” Nyemba said.
