PREMIER Soccer League (PSL) referee Norman Matemera moved to the next police rank following his refusal to accept bribe to fix match results.
Officer commanding Harare province Senior Assistant Commissioner Elias Mvere announced Matemera’s promotion at a welcome party hosted for sportspersons who participated at the Commissioner General of Police Sports Gala.
Harare province were crowned the overall winners of the 17 police province who participated in various sporting disciplines.
“It is indeed my great honour, pleasure and privilege to welcome you all at this important event during which we welcome back our provincial athletes who successfully participated during the 2018 CGP Sports Gala and came out on first position out of seventeen provinces,” said Snr Ass-Comm Mvere.
“I am delighted to share this day with you and I would like to personally congratulate each one of you for taking part.
“Allow me at this juncture to take this opportunity to thank our own police officer, Assistant Inspector Norman Matemera for his professional conduct in refusing to accept bribe.
“He was rewarded with money at the commissioning of Anti-Corruption Unit recently and us as a province see it fit to promote him to Inspector and make sure he is licensed to drive police vehicles,” said Snr Ass-Comm Mvere.
