Musician attacked over debt?
23 November 2016
SUNGURA musician Obvious Mutani was reportedly given a thrashing after failing to settle a US$6 debt accrued from haircuts in six months.
Mutani has since dragged his alleged assailants, Norest Gumbo, 29, and Simon Mujaji, 36, to court accusing them of assaulting him.
The duo appeared before Mbare magistrate Shelly Zvenyika charged with assault where they pleaded not guilty to assault charges and the matter was been deferred to November 29 for trial.
Circumstances leading to the arrest of the pair are that on November 18, at around 2pm Gumbo the barbershop owner approached Mutani at Hopely Zone 1 demanding his money.
Mutani, who is not new to controversy failed to pay the money, which is believed to be US$6 and Gumbo could not contain his emotions, it is said.
Further allegations are that, Gumbo teamed up with Mujaji and assaulted the Sungano Express leader who also claimed to have lost US$250 during the scuffle.
Mutani sustained some injuries but did not seek medical attention.
Gumbo and Mujaji are being represented by Liberty Gono of Machaya and Associates.
