FORMER Highlanders coach Erol Akbay has been rumoured to land the top job at Castle Lager Premier Soccer League runners up, Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Ngezi are reported to be in search for a head coach following the departure of Tonderai Ndiraya in the twilight of the just-ended season.

Sources at Baobab say the top brass at the ambitious club have consented that interim coach Clifton Kadurira might not deliver the desired results.

Despite the links with the Dutchman, the Mhondoro-based side chairperson Jeremiah Gasitene played down the rumours describing them as mere speculations.

“We are not aware that Akbay has signed a contract with our club. These are just speculations. Yes we have plans of finding a new coach and we don’t have one yet,” he said.

Akbay is reported to be in the country already though his manager Denford Mutashu refuted the claims.

“He is not back in the country, actually Akbay is in his home country Netherlands,” he said.

Many coaches who include Kalisto Pasuwa, Harare City coach Mark Harrison and CAPS United’s Lloyd Chitembwe have been tipped to replace Ndiraya in recent weeks.
