NGEZI SET TO FINALISE TODAY
28 December 2016
NGEZI Platinum will by today finalise their CAF Confederation Cup squad and submit the list before deadline on December 31, an official has said.
The Chibuku Super Cup champions have said they must meet the deadline to avoid paying penalties for late registration.
Although they are yet to officially confirm their new signings, Ngezi Platinum are expected to finalise on Bulawayo’s City’s Xolisani Moyo, How Mine’s Qadr Amini, Dynamos Dominic Mukandi, Mutare City’s Agrippa Murimba and Tsholotsho’s Maclive Phiri.
It is also expected that there could be one or two other signings from the lower divisions.
Club chairman Jeremiah Gasiteni said they were in the process of trying to ensure that agreements with new players coming on board are completed.
“By tomorrow we will have something certain on the team we will submit for the CAF Confederation Cup.
“We just need to iron out some areas and that includes clearances from some clubs before we can register the players,” he said.
Chances are also high that last minute deals could be concluded by Ngezi Platinum given that they have found it difficult for the past weeks to finalise on the players they had initially targeted.
“We are not in a position to discuss names at the moment. But by tomorrow we can make official some of the signings completed.
“It has not been easy getting the players to agree on personal terms and also talking to some of their clubs. But we have covered good ground so far and tomorrow (today) we should have a meeting to come up with one position,” he said.
The Chibuku Super Cup champions face Pamplenousses of Mauritius in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup. If they qualify for the next stage they face Libolo of Angola in what will be a difficult assignment.
They travel to Mauritius on the weekend of 10-12 February for the first leg. The reverse fixture will be on the weekend of 17-19 February.
Those are the same dates that CAF Champions league CAPS United will also be playing their matches.
