Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Sekai Nzenza, said one of her major missions is to come up with strategies that will motivate workers.
In an interview with H-Metro, Nzenza who is also Member of Parliament for Chikomba East Constituency, said a motivated workforce will contribute immensely in nation building.
“Being appointed as Minister is an exciting experience that the President has honoured me with and I am so grateful of the opportunity.
“I am a team member of a group of dynamic professionals who are highly skilled, ready and motivated.
“I now want to hit the ground running since there is a lot that needs to be done considering that these are three key Ministries that have been made into one which are public service, labour and social welfare.
“I am bringing lots of experience particularly in executive senior management, restructuring and more important is my background in good governance, accountability and transparency I am also bringing in performance management and team building.
“And that also goes along with motivating people to love going to work. I want to make sure that my Ministry will make people motivated in doing their jobs as this is important because labour is essential in nation building.”
Minister Nzenza added that she was also going to make sure that issues of gender inequalities are addressed.
“We also want to empower women; we want women to be involved in higher level of management. I am very interested in promoting the education for girls.
“In most rural communities, girls are usually the ones who are not educated because it is not prioritised by their parents and guardians.
“This is why we don’t have a lot of women having influencing positions at their workplaces as compared to their male counterparts,” she said.
