Oskid still has magic
31 January 2018
AWARD-WINNING music producer, Oskid – real name Prince Tapfuma – says he still has the magic to make good music.
He says Winky’s forth-coming 11th album to be launched this Friday at the Harare International Conference Centre bears enough testimony of his magic.
Oskid hogged the limelight two years ago when it came to producing hit songs.
During that year, his catalogue carried songs like Jah Prayzah’s Mudhara Achauya, Ammara Brown’s Watchu want, Bvunza tinzwe by Killer, Rasta ndoenda nemi by King Labash and Winky’s incredible hit carrying Gafa Kickstape among many others.
Two years later, the two – Winky D and Oskid – have renewed their romance on the album Gombwe.
“I will let the people be the judges but by my principles I put in the best of my ability into the project just like I do with any other artiste.
“I always make good music all the time it’s just that it is appreciated differently,” he said.
DJ Tamuka’s phenomenal rise to glory last year seemed to overshadow Oskid.
“People must understand music production is not a competition and everyone will have his or her time to shine.
“I am happy for Tamuka and the progress he has made, we are homeboys and I am glad to see him bask in the glory too.
“To me, Tamuka and I are great producers and no need for comparison; we are just doing our jobs to the best of our abilities and have our local music get appreciated globally,” added Oskid.
Oskid revealed that he had done 15 tracks with Winky D but is not sure how many of those tracks will make the album.
