Pastor cons follower

A MIRACLE Pool Church International Ministries’ pastor is standing accused of conning a congregant after he reportedly told her to cede her car and promised her to receive a better model within two months.
Pastor Givemore Nyamupfukudza, whose church is located in Glen Norah A in Harare, was hauled to the Harare magistrate court charged with fraud.
The 45-year-old cleric, who was being represented by lawyer Tafadzwa Hungwe, was not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti-Guwuriro.
Magistrate Muchuchuti-Guwuriro remanded pastor Nyamupfukudza out of custody to December 13 on US$100 bail.
Peter Kachirika, prosecuting, had it that sometime in October 2013 the woman, along with her husband, joined pastor Nyamupfukudza’s church.
In December of the same year, the woman and her husband visited pastor Nyamupfukudza at his place of residence and gave him a cellphone as a present.
Reports are that pastor Nyamupfukudza took advantage of the couple’s visits and allegedly lied to them that God had revealed to him that they were supposed to give something big for them to receive more blessings.
On a separate date, pastor Nyamupfukudza reportedly showed the couple a diary in which he claimed had written another revelation from God which said they were supposed to cede their Audi 4 registration ACX 6094.
The Miracle Pool Church International Ministries is also said to have told the couple that they would receive a Mercedes Benz ML within two months after ceding their Audi 4.
The woman, who works as a Town Planner, ‘ceded’ her car and gave pastor Nyamupfukudza its registration book.
After the promised two months had lapsed, the woman failed to get a Mercedes Benz ML as promised, a court heard.
Seeing that his revelations had failed to materialise, pastor Nyamupfukudza called the woman and her husband in front of the congregations during a church service.
Pastor Nyamupfukudza is said have given the couple a ‘blessed key hold’ and reportedly declared that they would receive the Mercedes Benz ML in June of 2015.
It was in February when he made the declaration, according to the State.
In June of last year, the ceding failed to yield any fruits which prompted the couple to leave Miracle Pool Church International Ministries.
The woman then started claiming her Audi4 from the man of cloth, but he insisted that the revelations would materialise as God has said, a court heard.
Reports are that the woman waited until last month when she approached pastor Nyamupfukudza demanding her car back.
Prosecutor Kachirika had it that pastor Nyamupfukudza’s spiritual father Alfred Jaka is said to have re-assured the woman that the ceding would yield results.
Pastor Nyamupfukudza is alleged to have promised the woman a Jeep Cherokee which he also failed to give to the woman.
Irked by her former pastor’s actions, the woman took the matter to the police leading to Nyamupfukudza’s arrest.
He appeared in court charged with fraud.
