WARRIORS coach Kalisto Pasuwa may need to carefully manage Marvelous Nakamba’s physical condition, something that his club has indirectly suggested ahead of the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.

Vitesse star Nakamba, who is already in the country, has played many games in a short period of time for the club.

H-Metro understands the club has communicated before releasing the player on that fact.

He has so far made 16 league appearances in Eredivisie and one cup appearance since the campaign started, a situation that shows his high fitness levels but in risk of a burn out before the season ends.

There are only three players at Vitesse who played more than 16 league games this season, making the Warriors star one of the most highly-rated players at the club.

Defender Guram Kashia, goalie Eloy Room and fellow midfielder Lewis Baker, who is on loan from Chelsea, are the only three to have played more league matches than Nakamba .

With that in mind Warriors coach Kalisto Pasuwa will seek to see how he can maximise on the player when Zimbabwe plunges into battle against Algeria in their first group match on January 15 at Stade de Franceville, without having to compromise his condition.

That battle will be followed up with Senegal on January 19 at the same stadium before Tunisia on January 23 at Stade de l’Amitié.

“As things stand, Nakamba is very much in Khama Billiat situation because when he has been overplayed, it may mean that the best way to manage such a situation will be to manage the time he trains and also avoid playing him for 90 minutes.

“Now in the case of Khama and Nakamba, it will be difficult for Pasuwa to play them say 65 or 70 minutes because these are two players that can really change the game for the Warriors,” said an insider.

In the period under review Nakamba has played 1440 minutes an average 90 minutes every game.

He has a pass success percentage of 84.6 percent and has won an average 60 percent of aerial duels per game.

Just like in Nakamba’s situation, Mamelodi Sundowns have also communicated highlighting that Khama will be fragile and will need special attention in managing his physical condition.
