17 October 2017
TWO policemen and one Bulawayo man have been arrested for allegedly robbing money and gold from a Borrowdale house.
Blessmore Sibanda, 28, Innocent Mureri Moyo, 36 and Melody Musengezi, 40, reportedly went away with US$9 980, $11 000 bond notes and 4 781 grams of gold.
The trio was not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Josephine Sande charged with robbery.
They were granted US$100 bail each and the matter was remanded to November 9.
Circumstances are that on October 7, at around 7 am, the complainant Dillon Andre Wigill, 18, was at home alone.
Sibanda who is a friend to Steven Moreley Hann who is already on remand on the case hatched a plan to rob the complainant’s father.
Sibanda reportedly connived with Moyo, Musengezi and Chidemo who is still on the run to rob the complainant’s father.
It was reported that Moyo and Mureri who are police officers fraudulently applied for a search warrant using a false reference.
Acting on the information supplied to Sibanda by Hann they reportedly proceeded to the house armed with a fraudulently acquired search warrant.
On arrival, they allegedly confronted Wigill who was at home alone, they demanded to search the house but he refused them entry.
One of the four men assaulted Wigill and threatened him with death, they proceeded into the house and they stole cash US$9 980, $11 000 bond notes and 4781 grams of gold.
After the robbery, the accused persons proceeded to Jessica Maria Aurthers place of residence and left the stolen gold in her possession.
Later the same day, the accused persons collected the stolen gold and proceeded with it to Bulawayo before handing it over to Hann who sold part of it on the black market.
