…Mabvura wins two awards

Tichaona Mabvura

NGEZI Platinum star Tichaona Mabvura believes he can go another level in his career to inspire Ngezi Platinum to win the title next season.

Mabvura won two awards at the club’s annual awards on Tuesday – Most improved Player and Players’ Player of the Year.

“I always want to achieve more. I’m not content with the achievements of the 2017 so come next year, I’m aiming for the big ones,” Mabvura told H-Metro.

“I’m very excited to have won the awards and I will always aim to do the best that I can. I always want to achieve more, and I’m not content with the achievements of 2017. So next year I will be aiming for the big ones like I have said.”

And asked on the Players’ Player of Year award, voted by his teammates, he said: “I feel proud and honoured and it makes me happy to know that you have teammates that appreciate your efforts.”

After Ngezi Platinum failed to win the title, finishing third behind champions FC Platinum and Dynamos, Mabvura believes they have what it takes to change that in 2018.

“Next year, the title will be ours because now we have unity and better understanding amongst ourselves,” he said.

It is coach Tonderai Ndiraya who kept faith in the attacking midfielder, with the player having deemed excess baggage at Dynamos.

Ndiraya had initially helped Mabvura join the Premiership giants, eventually giving him a second chance at Ngezi when he crossed the floor.

“Coach Tonde is very good. We worked well together and I really thank him for giving me a chance to play for the team to showcase what I’m capable of,” said Mabvura.

Ngezi Platinum have not made it secret that they will go into the transfer market with all the financial power they have to strengthen their team ahead of the 2018 season.

Qadr Amini

Qadr Amini was Player of the year for Ngezi Platinum in a season the left back contributed crucial goals for Ndiraya’s charges.

Terrence Dzvukamanja was top scorer while Godknows Murwira was most disciplined player.

“I think Qadr did very well this season for the team and he deserves to win the award. He has been on top of his game,” Mabvura said.

At the awards, Ngezi Platinum gave coach Ndiraya the go ahead to invade the transfer market for good players.

The club took the opportunity to thank all the players for the commitment, clearly stating that some are on their way our as they expect new arrivals.

The immediate assignment for Ndiraya will be to try and replace Liberty Chakoroma who has since signed with rivals FC Platinum.
